Defense: Iran shot down a US Air Force A-10 Warthog during a firefight while attempting a fighter jet rescue mission.
A US Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II was shot down in Iran while trying to rescue crew from a downed F-15 Strike Eagle. Luckily, the pilot ejected safely into friendly territory. The A-10, known as the "Warthog," has been in service since 1977, but the Air Force plans to retire it. #USAF #A10 #Warthog
